Engaged Scholar Promotion & Tenure Workshops

How do faculty who engage in community-based research and teaching make their best case for promotion and tenure?  This annual three-part workshop identifies challenges that community-engaged scholars face in the promotion and tenure process and presents several strategic and practical approaches to addressing these challenges.   • Community-Engaged Scholarship in Promotion and Tenure: Context and overview— 10:00 a.m. to noon, Feb. 11, 2025 provides a broad overview about community-engaged scholarship in relationship to the University’s definition of public engagement and departmental 7.12 statements. This session is co-led by Drs. Beth Lewis and David Weerts.
  • Documenting Engaged Scholarship: Enhancing Your Dossier for Promotion and Tenure Part 1—1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., Feb. 20, 2025 highlights practical strategies to help faculty document the characteristics of quality community-engaged scholarship within their own work.  This session is led by Dr. Cathy Jordan.
  • Documenting Engaged Scholarship: Enhancing Your Dossier for Promotion and Tenure Part 2—1:00 to 3:00 p.m., Feb. 27, 2025 offers the opportunity for expert and peer critique of participant vitae, research statements, and other dossier documents. This session is led by Dr. Cathy Jordan.
