Graduate Student Community Engaged Scholarship Task Force

Charge

To develop recommendations for decreasing barriers and increasing support for graduate students to be a part of community-engaged scholarship.  The task force will determine the greatest barriers to graduate students in pursuing community-engaged scholarship opportunities and recommend what programs, policies, and resources need to be developed or enhanced to have the greatest impact in facilitating graduate students' community-engaged scholarship.

Rationale

Graduate students have increasing interest in connecting their academic pursuits with those of community issues.  However, due to a variety of reasons support for this type of scholarship can be difficult for graduate students to find.  Graduate students at the U of M have asked the Office for Public Engagement to create a plan for increasing systematic support for publicly-engaged scholarship opportunities for graduate students.
