From Transaction to Transformation

From Transaction to Transformation is a professional development learning journey for community-engaged leaders and learners. The ten-minute module offers a captivating, interactive roadmap for conducting public engagement and features the wisdom and talents of some of the University's most successful engagement scholars and practitioners. You learn by making scenario-based decisions along the way. This is not a test, so relax, settle back, and let the scholar coaches be your guides.

From Transaction to Transformation was developed by the Office for Public Engagement with assistance from University and community partners. Special thanks to John Akre, Sara Axtell, Andy Furco, Rachel Hardeman, Craig Hassel, Monica Siems McKay, Beth Peloff, Leo Rickertsen, and Makeda Zulu.

A few helpful notes before beginning:

  • The module is organized into seven short sections: Let’s Talk; Money, Money, Money; Ownership; Widen the Circle; Ownership X 2; Celebrate and Honor; and Moving Forward.
  • The entire experience takes between 10 and 20 minutes to complete, depending on your choices and interest in exploring the scenarios. The final slide will allow you to review each scenario.
  • References to MOUs, grants, awards, contracts, agreements, clinical trials, and sponsored projects are specific to the University of Minnesota and may vary from institution to institution.
  • Because this module includes videos and graphics as well as text, its developers recommend viewing it on a desktop or laptop computer. For the best experience, select the "full screen" option before beginning.

Select the video icon to begin and the "Explore" tab to advance your journey.
