The National Science Foundation, and most funders, reviews proposals based on both the science and the broader contribution to societal impact. In this session, we will discuss NSF's broader impacts criterion, how societal impacts appear in other agency and foundation RFPs, and resources for creating and implementing high-quality impact goals to contribute to society beyond academic outputs of research.
