Outstanding Outreach Award—(Twin Cities)  Sponsored by the College of Design, this award recognizes outreach, engagement, or disciplinary service scholarship by individuals and/or teams within or across disciplines that have addressed a critical civic, economic, environmental, health, social, or other related issue in Minnesota, the nation, or the world.  Deadline March.  

College of Education and Human Development (Twin Cities)

Community Outreach and Engagement Award—(Twin Cities) Sponsored by the College of Education and Human Development, this award recognizes faculty who have been involved in public service and who have encouraged and emphasized civic engagement as a permanent priority of the college. Deadline February.

Jeanne T. Lupton Civil Service/Bargaining Unit Outstanding Service Award—(Twin Cities) Sponsored by the College of Education and Human Development, this award recognizes outstanding service to the CEHD and to the U of M by CEHD Civil Service/Bargaining Unit staff.

College of Food, Agricultural, and Natural Resource Sciences (Twin Cities)

Distinguished Extension/Outreach Award—(Twin Cities) Sponsored by the College of Food, Agricultural, and Natural Resource Sciences, this award recognizes a faculty or staff member who have made a priority of engagement that links CFANS and the U of M to the citizens of the state.  Deadline March. 

School of Nursing (Twin Cities)

Nursing Public Service Award—(Twin Cities) Sponsored by the School of Nursing, this award recognizes nursing faculty and nursing professionals who have provided leadership related to the assessment/alleviation of significant health care problem(s). Deadline April.

University of Minnesota, Crookston

UMC Outstanding Community Service—(Crookston)  This award recognizes the contributions of UMC faculty and staff to the larger community of Crookston and the region.

UMN Outstanding Service Learning Faculty Award—(Crookston)  This award recognizes faculty and staff for outstanding service learning courses and opportunities. 

 

Systemwide

Award for Global Engagement—Sponsored by the Global Programs and Strategy Alliance, this award is given to faculty and staff members in recognition of outstanding contributions to global education and international programs at the University or in their field or discipline. Deadline April.

C. Eugene Allen Award for Innovative International Initiatives—Sponsored by the Global Programs and Strategy Alliance, this award recognizes faculty and staff for their contributions to further the internationalization of the University of Minnesota.  Deadline March. 

Josie R. Johnson Human Rights and Social Justice Award—Sponsored by the Office for Equity and Diversity, this award honors faculty, staff, and students who, through their principles and practices, exemplify Dr. Josie Johnson’s standard of excellence in creating respectful and inclusive living, learning, and working environments. Deadline March.

Outstanding Community Service Awards—Awarded through the Office for Public Engagement, this award is open to students, staff, faculty, and community partners who have made an extraordinary, significant contribution to the betterment of society through his/her research, academic studies, and/or public service. Deadline February.

President's Community-Engaged Scholar Award—Awarded through the Office for Public Engagement and the the Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty and Academic Affairs, this award recognizes one faculty or P&A individual annually for exemplary engaged scholarship in his/her field of inquiry.  The faculty or P&A award recipients have demonstrated a longstanding academic career that embodies the University of Minnesota's definiton of public engagement.  Deadline January.

 

State

Minnesota Campus Compact Presidents' Civic Engagement Steward Award—Sponsored by Minnesota Campus Compact, this award is for a member of the faculty, administration, or staff or for a group (e.g., advisory committee, task force, project team) that has significantly advanced their campus' distinctive civic mission by forming strong partnerships, supporting others' civic engagement, and working to institutionalize a culture and practice of engagement.  Deadline February.

 

National

Alec Dickson Servant Leader Award—Sponsored by the National Youth Leadership Council, this award recognizes exemplary leaders who have inspired the service-learning field, positively impacting the lives of young people, and motivating others to take up the banner of service.  Deadline November.

American Association for the Advancement of Science Early Career Award for Public Engagement with Science—Awarded by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), this award recognizes early-career scientists and engineers who demonstrate excellence in their contribtuion to public engagement with science activities.  Deadline October.

International Association for Research on Service-Learning and Community Engagement Distinguished Career Recognition—Awarded by the International Association for Research on Service-Learning and Community Engagement (IARSLCE), this award acknowledges and celebrates intellectual leadership through a body of work that has broad and deep impact on service-learning and community engagement—including the study of it, the practice of it, and the cultures and systems within which it is undertaken.  Deadline June.

International Association for Research on Service-Learning and Community Engagement Early Career Recognition—Awarded by the International Association for Research on Service-Learning and Community Engagement (IARSLCE), this award acknowledges and celebrates intellectual leadership through an emerging body of work that has begun to demonstrate broad and deep impact on service-learning and community engagement—including the study of it, the practice of it, and the cultures and/or systems within which it is undertaken  Deadline June.

National Society for Experiential Education Experiential Education Rising Leader Award—This award recognizes an individual who has joined NSEE within the past five years and is already making outstanding contributions to the field.  Deadline June.

National Society for Experiential Education Outstanding Experiential Education Research/Dissertation Award—This award recognizes an NSEE member who has published or completed a doctoral dissertation within the past two years that makes important contributions to our understanding of experiential education.  Deadline June.

National Society for Experiential Education Outstanding Experiential Education Program Award—This award recognizes outstanding K-12 or higher education institutions that have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to experiential education in their classrooms or on their campuses.  Deadline June.

National Society for Experiential Education Outstanding Leader in Experiential Education:  Higher Education Award—This award recognizes a higher education member who has demonstrated innovative uses of experiential learning in their institution.  Deadline June.

 

International

MacJannet Prize for Global Citizenship—Sponsored by the Talloires Network and the MacJannet Foundation, this award recognizes exceptional student community engagement initiatives at Talloires Network member universities and contributions financially to their ongoing public service efforts.  As a member of the Talloires Network, the University of Minnesota is invited to submit up to two nominations to be considered for this award. The Office for Public Engagement facilitates the selection process for the university.  Deadline January.
