Rebecca Shlafer, University of Minnesota assistant professor of pediatrics and expert in the developmental outcomes of children with parents in prison, will present at Leveraging Research for Change: An Engaged Scholar Community-Academic Research Institute on Friday, February 6 at the Urban Research and Outreach-Engagement Center.

Open to faculty, staff, students, and community partners, the event will examine how universities can leverage campus research resources to advance positive change in communities. Institute themes include: leveraging community-engaged research to make systems-level change that positively impacts communities; building trust and coping with conflict in community-engaged research processes; and engaging our communities’ many ways of knowing and forms of knowledge production in engaged research processes.
