Reflection assignments are a critical first step in a student’s service-learning experience. But how should reflection assignments be graded? And how should instructors assess whether learning objectives have been reached? This interactive workshop will focus on reflection practices and rubrics and communications strategies designed to ensure meaningful service-learning experiences. Engaged Scholar Workshops are designed to help University faculty take advantage of the benefits of publicly-engaged scholarship. Launched last fall, the year-long series addresses strategies for teaching and research through discussions with experienced community engaged scholars, presentations of best practices, and activities to help scholars to apply best practices to their own work.
