OPE announces 2017 U of M Outstanding Community Service Awards

The Office for Public Engagement has announced the winners of the 2017 University of Minnesota Outstanding Community Service Awards which recognize faculty, staff, students and community partners who have made significant, demonstrable, and direct contribution to society’s well-being. 

The 2017 recipients are:

  • Outstanding Community Service Faculty Award—Brian Sick, associate professor, Department of Medicine, Medical School;
  • Outstanding Community Service Staff Award—Linus Chan, director, Detainee Rights Clinic, Law School; 
  • Outstanding Community Service Student Award—Beth Fallon, PhD candidate, Department of Plant and Microbial Biology, College of Biological Sciences; and 
  • Outstanding Community Service Community Partner Award—Lisa Thornquist, research and project evaluation coordinator, Office to End Homelessness, Hennepin County.
