Iowa & Minnesota Campus Compact (IAMNCC) have announced the winners of the 2021 Presidents’ Awards and Engaged Campus Awards. The awards honor over 90 individuals and organizations whose accomplishments exemplify and celebrate the public purpose of higher education. Presidents’ Awards recognize outstanding contributions in civic and community engagement by students, faculty, staff, collaborative teams, and community organizations on individual member campuses.
University of Minnesota Rochester recipients include:
- Presidents’ Student Leadership Award: Yusra Yusuf;
- Presidents’ Community Partner Award: Omar Nur;
- Presidents’ Civic Engagement Leadership Award: Assistant Professor Angie P. Mejia.
University of Minnesota Twin Cities recipients include:
- Presidents’ Student Leadership Award: MN CovidSitters;
- Presidents’ Community Partner Award: The Legal Rights Center, a Minnesota-based community-driven nonprofit law firm, specializing in adult criminal and juvenile delinquency defense, restorative justice practices and youth advocacy;
- Presidents’ Civic Engagement Leadership Award: University of Minnesota Critical Community Engagement Roundtable Leadership Team, comprising faculty and staff from the University's Department of American Indian Studies, Center for Community-Engaged Learning, and Department of Family Social Science.
