The University of Minnesota offers a wide range of programs, initiatives, and other opportunities that serve to connect its ideas, discoveries, and resources to citizens throughout the state and around the world:

The University of Minnesota is one of over 1,000 colleges and universities around the country participating in the America Reads Challenge by training and sending tutors into surrounding communities.

Arts & Culture: Located in the heart of the Twin Cities' thriving arts environment, the University of Minnesota is a major contributor to the cultural richness of the community.

The Office for Business and Community Economic Development works with government, private enterprise, and community organizations to create opportunities for businesses owned by individuals historically and currently underrepresented.

The Career and Community Learning Center offers students, community partners, faculty and staff a range of information and resources about service-learning and community involvement.

The Center for Transportation Studies addresses the need for closer cooperation between University faculty and state and federal departments of transportation by strengthening the University's role in transportation research and education.

The Center for Urban and Regional Affairs is an all-University applied research and technology center at the University of Minnesota that connects faculty and students with nonprofit organizations, ethnic and racial minority groups, businesses, rural towns, inner-city neighborhoods, suburban communities, local governments, and public institutions in Minnesota.

The Children, Youth and Family Consortium brings together the expertise of the University of Minnesota and the resources of Minnesota's communities to address critical health, education, and social policy concerns in ways that improve the well-being of Minnesota's children, youth, and families.

The College of Continuing Education serves a diverse community of experienced, adult learners and organizations by linking them to thought-leaders and knowledge at the University of Minnesota and beyond.

The Community Engagement Scholars Program is open to all degree-seeking undergraduate students at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.

The University of Minnesota's Extension Service delivers high-quality, relevant educational programs and information to Minnesota citizens and communities in the areas of community development and vitality; land, food, and environment; and youth development and family living.

The Institute on Community Integration seeks to improve the community services and social supports available to individuals with developmental and other disabilities, and their families, throughout the United States and abroad.

The Interdisciplinary Center for the Study of Global Change is an interdisciplinary and cross-cultural community of faculty and graduate students committed to studying global change, especially as seen in the developing world; addressing issues of peace, conflict, security, social and environmental change, justice, human rights, development, and international cooperation.

The Regional Sustainable Development Partnerships Program is a cooperative venture between the University of Minnesota and citizen leaders around the state.

Research & Outreach: In addition to its campuses and collaborative center, the University of Minnesota has cutting-edge facilities and research centers throughout the state.
